This page has been designed to provide you with information about our youth work training programme and how to apply for one of our courses.
Need 2 Succeed, in partnership with Youth Investment Fund (YIF), is offering you the opportunity to study for a JNC-recognised nationally accredited qualification in youth work practice, either through our level 2 or level 4 pathways. We have set out below all the information you need to understand what's involved and how to apply for a place.
Please note that these courses are free but will require approval from YIF and a £300 refundable deposit to book your place, which will be returned to you or your organisation upon successful and timely completion of your course (usually 12 months).

How long did your course take you to complete?
"The teaching took me about 7 months; with final units and certification 2 months later. The course was delivered all online, with monthly training days to attend; but I know they do live classes too. I also had the support of my assessor for 1:1 support and assessment. She was really helpful and also came and visited me in my centre."
Is your qualification nationally recognised?
"Yes, by SEG Awards - my certificate is a recognised JNC youth work qualification, providing me with a professionally recognised qualification that has helped me move on in my career. I am now taking on the Level 3."
What is the cost?
"The Level 2 Certificate is £1475 and the Level 3 is £1675. This may sound a lot, but check out my story - I've already made it back in career progression. Also there may be funding available - check with your employer? If funding is available, you or your employer may need to pay a £3oo deposit, which is returned to you when you complete your course within 12 months."
Can I get a payment plan?
"I paid for mine outright - but there is a payment plan option, it costs a bit more though! All you pay is a deposit of £375 and Need 2 Succeed will set up a monthly Direct Debit for you - just give them a call."

"After you complete your studies there are various things you can do. If you are doing the Level 2 you can move straight over to level 3, and remember you can use the first 4 units of Level 2 towards your qualification, meaning you don't need to do them again.
If you take the Level 3, Need 2 Succeed are now running a level 4 programme or you can move on to a university or apprenticeship degree programmes."
"Hi, my name is Jennie and I used to work as a teaching assistant during the day on a fairly low wage and to supplement my income, I worked 2 sessions at a local youth club. On average, I was earning around £17-£18K a year, working around 40-45 hours a week.
Something had to change, so I decided youth work was a career I really wanted to explore, as I loved working with young people. So I went ahead and booked a session with Ange, one of Need 2 Succeeds advisors, who helped me to explore all aspects of what my career goals were and what the best course pathway to take was.
I settled on the Level 2 programme and after 9 months, I passed with flying colours and this meant two things for me.
One: I was now nationally qualified, meaning my hourly rate went up.
Two: I was able to reduce my hours at the school and take on more sessions at my youth centre as a leader in charge of a few sessions.
I have now embarked on my Level 3, and as a bonus, because I completed my Level 2, the first 4 units count towards my Level 3, meaning I'm already half way through and I've only just started!
